Built by the Stalin government in the 50s, this Russian submarine base was extremely secret. Located in the Black Sea, in Balaklava, in the Ukraine peninsula, the fantastic military building is worthy of action movies. Its access was only possible through an underground channel, protected by six-metre thick titanium doors and placs that should guarantee its survival, even in case of a nuclear attack of 100 megatons. After the colapse of the former Soviet Union, the lack of maintenance and funding caused it to be dismantled and abandoned in 1995. In 2005, the British architecture comapny Wintersgill, would be responsible for transforming the impressive military complex in a museum, but, for political reasons, the submarine base, which is open to the public, has not turned into a true turistic atraction yet.
