At $599 and $699 for the 4 TB and 6 TB drives (RAID 0 setup), it’s clear they are, at least at first, marketing these towards the professional market. ~$700 clams is a lot to spend on a simple external hard drive. That said, the insanely fast 500+ MB/s read/write speeds and daisy chaining abilities are reason enough for us to plop down the necessary cash — if only we had it. Who’s ready to send 1′s and 0′s to and fro at 10 Gbps? Our wish: That Western Digital puts out some single drive options as well. While speed will obviously take a hit, having to worry about one drive failing is a lot less work than worrying about two as you do in striped (RAID 0) setups such as these.
